Early Open Fire – Special Edition

Thanks to the Focus Photo Grant from Pro Helvetia, I spent a month in the far north of Alaska with writer Urs Mannhart in autumn 2025. In close collaboration with publisher Energie für Alle (Efa), we created a publication that— through photography and literature — explores encounters, landscapes, solitude, happiness, and the experience of photographing in this extraordinary region.

In addition to the standard edition, Early Open Fire is also available in a limited special edition: a signed print (18.5 x 24.5 cm, with a choice of four motifs; Print No. 4 is not shown in the publication). The print is housed in a sleeve of semi-transparent parchment paper, which Urs Mannhart ran through an Olivetti Lettera 12 typewriter, imprinting it with a few literary lines.
